If you want someone to come over to your point of view, then telling them the unvarnished truth will feel like a sword of justice in your hand. But it might not get you the result you want.

There’s a difference between being right and getting something done.

If you really care about a person you want to convince, you need to ask yourself if things would be better if they understood your view of the world one percent better.

Because if they’re very wrong about the world and you’re very right, their response to you speaking your truth about the world might be to tell you to shut up and get out of their face.

So consider what would happen if you met them where they are, understood their worldview, and spoke their language. If you did, they might be convinced that even though they don’t believe what you believe, they’re now willing to try to understand what you understand. And helping them understand even a fraction of what you know can have a massive impact.

One percent better. Mathematically, is infinitely better than zero percent.
