If you’re afraid of doing what you need to do in life then think about this.
There is no reward without risk. In other words, to get something you want, you have to try something that might not work. We have to do something dangerous.
This is an inescapable fact of reality.
But trying things that might not work is scary. So we often only do this when absolutely necessary. And the less often we risk, the less used to the sensation of taking a risk we become. And the danger of taking that risk becomes more frightening to us over time.
So if you’re at a point where you’re paralyzed by fear then it’s probably not the thing in front of you now that’s the problem. It’s the many small acts of avoiding risk in your past that have made you unprepared to deal with the situation in front of you.
But you can develop your capacity to take a risk and step into a dangerous situation by taking very small risks that make you uncomfortable but you know you can navigate. And over time, you won’t be frozen by fear. You will be able to act in the face of fear. And you will be more dangerous than the dangerous risks you have to take.
