To be capable in uncomfortable situations, you have to understand the difference between feeling unsafe and being unsafe.

If you see the feeling of danger as the same thing as the experience of being in danger then you won’t be able to control your decisions.

And you will seek to feel more and more safe. The problem with that, is that the feeling of safety or danger occurs in your own mind. So you can feel like you’re in terrible danger in the safest place in the world surrounded by the most loving people you know.

You have to be willing to address your situation and your emotions as seperate experiences to move forwards. Where sometimes you’re in actual danger, and you can let those feelings of being in danger strengthen you to do what you need to do to get out of the situation.

But when you see that you are safe you must not let your fears define your actions. Or instead of running from danger, you will start to run from your fear of danger. And that is a fear that will make you run forever.
