I wish I would have learned this when I was younger. You don’t have to make money doing the thing you love.
You can be a musician and have a job in finance. You can be an artist and work in the technology industry. And this doesn’t mean you’re being sucked dry of your creative talent by the vampire machine of commerce unless you let it. It can mean that your life is more diverse and your education more broad. It can give you resources and insights to pursue your artistic and passionate visions with greater power and wisdom.
The belief that you need to pick the thing you love and make it work is false and built on the beliefs before it around working a forty hour workweek at the same job for the rest of your life. That way of life died more than thirty years ago. It’s time to find your own way now.
