Anxiety is addictive because boredom is intolerable.
If you’re anxious, it’s often because you do things that make you anxious because you can’t handle being bored.
Sitting on a chair without your phone is boring and it gives you the opportunity to have anxious thoughts you don’t like, so you pick up your phone to avoid those thoughts. The only problem is that using your phone causes anxiety. So it makes it worse the next time you try to set it down.
At some point you have to be willing to experience a boring situation and confront your own mind or you’ll just keep running away from it towards something worse.
