If you need to get something done and you’re not doing it because you’re wasting your time on meaningless entertainment.
Then it’s probably not the thing you need to get done or the entertainment that’s the problem.
It’s the fact that you have nothing in between those two things. Doing stuff is hard. And entertainment isn’t restful. So whenever you try to stop scrolling and get to work you brain panics because you’re trying to get yourself to move from something over stimulating to something difficult.
Try setting your phone down and then breathing all the air out of your lungs and waiting until you feel an instinct to breath in. Then take a deeper than normal breath, letting it all out and holding your breath until you need to breathe again.
Keep doing this while taking bigger breaths each time and ask yourself if you’re ready to get to work.
If not, then let yourself experiment with the breath until you’re ready.
Breathing for twenty minutes to put off a project is way better than scrolling for three hours.
