Be conscious of the extraordinary.
You don’t get to do normal things and get extraordinay results. So you have to understand when you’re doing something extraordinary so that you can keep doing it.
If you work out three days a week you’re doing something extraordinary. If you’re eating a diet that makes you feel better you’re not normal. If you’re striking up relationships with people regularly and working to find better friends you’re extremely rare.
And all of these are things we often tell ourselves a normal person should do and we should feel bad because we’re not doing enough.
This doesn’t work because it twists your perception of the effort needed to accomplish those things. They don’t require a normal amount of effort, they require an above average amount. And if you know this you won’t feel shocked and disheartened when you try these things and find them difficult.
People aren’t afraid to do hard work, they just don’t want to think it should be easy and then feel miserable because it’s worse than they thought.
