Come up with bad ideas.
A lot of them.
The ability to come up with ideas is a skill. and anything that’s a skill is naturally something you’re pretty bad at when you start doing it.
This means you have to come up with bad ideas in order to come up with good ones.
Perfectionism gets in the way of good ideas because perfectionism has its roots in a static mindset, the belief of, “I’m either talented or I’m not,” instead of the understanding that, “If I work on this, I will get better.”
And the most effective solution is to come up with lots of bad ideas, and observe as they become steadily better over time, proving to yourself the truth that, “If you work on something you will get better at it,” until that truth becomes so real in your mind that it becomes automatic to spring into action instead of waiting for inspiration.
