You don’t get to do everything.
You can’t do anything you want to when you grow up.
And you can achieve things beyond your wildest dreams.
The last generation raised us to believe we could do anything and they were right in the sense that humans are infinitely variable.
But in their pursuit to make us feel hopeful and not be sad they forgot to tell us that achievement comes at a cost.
You don’t get to do anything. You get to do something, and you have to choose what that something is. You have to sacrifice some of your options in order to make your dreams come true.
And as you pursue your dreams, you don’t get to go all out because you’ll expend yourself before you get where you want to go.
You’ll drain yourself dry of energy and hope.
You have to be willing to sit the fuck down and rest, and then do some simple work that’s within your ability in order to get where you really want to go.
Dreams are built simple bricks of achievable things that you do every day to make tomorrow better.
